Definition of member categories: 2.1. Member: person with a doctorate degree, or equivalent, participating in the examining committee, with experience (verified through the Lattes CV) in the research topic of the dissertation/thesis. 2.2. Internal member: professors and researchers, active or retired, with a formal employment relationship with UFF; 2.3. External member: professors and researchers, active or retired, as well as industry people and post-docs without a formal employment relationship with UFF, which do not belong to the program. 2.4. Extra member: anyone that does not qualify as internal or external;
Requirements for each member category: 3.1. Internal member: be a member of PGMEC, or satisfy the criteria to be a member of PGMEC; 3.2. External member: satisfy the criteria to be a member of PGMEC; or have an H factor higher than the the H2 factor do PGMEC, according to the Scopus database; 3.3. Extra member: member: satisfy the criteria to be a member of PGMEC; or have an H factor higher than the the H2 factor do PGMEC, according to the Scopus database; or be approved by ⅔ of the collegiate, upon formal request by the advisor.
Rules for the committee composition: 4.1. A master dissertation committee must have at least: 4.1.1. 3 (three) participating members, with at least 1 (one) external member; 4.1.2. 2 (two) reserve members, with at least 1 (one) external member; 4.2. A doctoral thesis committee must have at least: 4.2.1. 5 (five) participating members, with at least 2 (one) external member; 4.2.2. 2 (two) reserve members, with at least 1 (one) external member;
